AI for everyday tasks
Real prompts for email, study, work, research and planning.
Now let us put everything together. These are real tasks where AI can save you time this week. Copy any prompt, fill in the brackets, and use it.
Writing emails and messages
prompt
Rewrite the message below so it is clear, polite and professional. Keep my meaning. Under 120 words. Message: [paste here]
Studying and learning
prompt
I am learning [topic]. Explain it in simple words, then give me 5 practice questions. Wait for my answers before telling me if I am right.
The last sentence turns the chatbot into a tutor that quizzes you, which is much better for remembering than just reading.
Job search
prompt
Compare my CV with this job post. List the important keywords I am missing, then rewrite my CV summary in 3 lines to match the role. CV: [paste] Job post: [paste]
Research and summaries
prompt
Summarise the text below in 5 bullet points, then list 3 questions I should ask to understand it better. Text: [paste]
Planning
prompt
Help me plan a [type of trip / event / project]. Before you suggest anything, ask me up to 5 questions about my budget, time and preferences.
Tip: asking the AI to ask you questions first is a great trick when you do not know what details to include.
Build your own prompt library
Every time a prompt works well, save it in a note. After a few weeks you will have a personal toolkit for the tasks you do most often. You can also start from our Prompt Library, which has tested prompts for writing, coding, studying and work.
A good habit
Treat AI output as a first draft. Read it, fix anything that is wrong or does not sound like you, and then use it. You stay in charge; the AI just saves you time.
Key takeaways
- Use AI as a first draft, then edit with your own judgement.
- Keep a small library of prompts you reuse every week.
- Ask the AI to ask you questions when you are not sure what to include.
